The journey between what you once were and who you are becoming is where the dance of life really takes place.     Barbara DeAngelis

I feel stuck and I hate it!  (Or, Can you help me feel better?)

Don't we all just hate that feeling?  And who hasn't had it?  We all need a leg up at times.  Maybe you're dealing with a long-standing aggravation, or maybe with a relatively recent change of circumstances.  Either way, you're probably feeling some pain and some uncertainty. Therapy is a self-honoring step.  My intention is that you start feeling better very early on as we begin exploration and work towards goals and solutions.  Movement and step-by-step change eases  stuck feelings.

If I do this thing, how does it work?  (Or why try counseling?)

You already know that the resources you've tried (maybe a lot!) haven't been enough.  Counseling is relationship plus specifics-- that is,  your specific background and concerns and the counselor's specific background and ways of addressing concerns like yours..  The relationship part is all about fit between you and your counselor; it's about being able to trust your counselor to understand y0u, accept you, not judge you, hang in there with you, and let you be free in deep truthfulness.  These qualities of relationship and learning allow you to reach deeper understanding and confidence to try new approaches and find new successes.  These are qualities I aim for in my interactions with you.

In the end, my focus is on supporting you in finding your direction and the means to itMy goal is for you to have more rewarding relationships, a sense of greater personal strength and choice, and a more enjoyable and fulfilling life which you have chosen.

I believe you have a great dance within you, and I would be honored to accompany you in bringing it forth.

Well, Can you help me with my  Concerns? (Or what are your specialties?)

My focuses are:

#Relationships-- Marriage counseling, couples or partners counseling and related issues such as infidelity and divorce.  And I work with relating generally, at work, at home, or on the baseball field.  I address relationship issues either with both (or more) participants or with one individual.  Either can be productive.

#Depression

#Anxiety

Depression and anxiety involve looking at the whole person, their concerns, history, experience, habits of thinking, believing, and  other relevant factors.  Most often, these feelings extend beyond current circumstances to earlier learnings and experiences which can successfully be addressed.  Sometimes this involves looking at underlying trauma, handling of anger, handling of change or transitions or other factors.

In all of these, freedom to explore deeper truths of feeling, need, experience, and behavior are necessary.  To read more on these and related topics, click the "What We Do" button in the top navigation bar, then click topics in the drop-down menu.

Who Do You Work with? (Or what kinds of clients do you work best with?)

I work with adolescents, adults, couples (including lgtb),  elders, and families.  Are you one of these?  I would love to work with you!
